Herndon`s Planning for the Metro Silver line is nearly complete.  We have the details for the zoning district to finalize.  Managing the gradual and incremental redevelopment of the commercial properties upon the arrival of the Silver line will present both opportunity and challenges. The challenge will be to balance the public amenities needed (such as the Kiss-and-Ride and bus drop off areas) with density needed to make the redevelopment attractive for the property owners.

I support infrastructure enhancements on our side of the Dulles toll road to improve convenience, safety and public access to the future Silver Line stop. This access will include pedestrian, bicycle as well as vehicular improvements to existing roads and sidewalks and trails.  These improvements will facilitate more efficient traffic flow on the Herndon Parkway at the Monroe street intersection..
