There are two important things that I bring to my job as councilmember: Experience and Service. Both are extensive in terms of quality and length of time.
For nearly the entire twenty years that I have lived in Herndon, I have invested my time to serve my community and to enhance the quality of living in the Town. My community service includes the following organizations:
Herndon Historical Society, I currently serve as President. I formerly served as Secretary
Herndon Community Association Coalition 2002- present, President 2002- present
Herndon Crime Prevention Council, past President
Herndon Neighborhood College Alumni Association
Dumbarton Square Homeowners Association, President 1994-present
Friends of Runnymede Park,
Herndon Community Television, volunteer and Chairman of the Board
Herndon Festival volunteer
Friday Night Live, past volunteer
My experience in representing our community parallels my community involvement.
I have served three terms on the Herndon Town Council, 2006-2010, 2012-present;
While serving on the Herndon Town Council, I also served on the following:
Virginia Municipal League (VML) Transportation Policy Committee
Virginia Municipal League Transportation Steering Committee
Northern Virginia Regional Commission; Town`s alternate member 2008-2010
Town of Herndon Pedestrian and Bicycle Advisory Committee (PBAC), Past Chairman
In preparation for seeking elective office, I enrolled in and successfully completed the Virginia Certified Planning Commissioners Program in 2005. This training has proven valuable in understanding land use, zoning and has enabled me to better and more fairly decide issues involving land use.
